Bayara (Gyma Food Industries)

Manufacturer• AE UAE• Member since 1992

Bayara is the regional brand of Gyma Food Industries (GFI), based at Dubai Investment Park 2 in Dubai. Its site states that the company was founded in the UAE in 1992 as a trading company that took the concept of traditional Arabian souks into modern trade, that it renamed its regional brand Bayara in 2013, and that it was acquired by Savola Group in 2021. Its General Manager, Khalid Alvi, says Bayara has established itself as a leading manufacturer of nuts, dried fruits, spices and pulses across the Middle East and Africa, and its brochure lists factories in Dubai and Riyadh and more than 1,000 employees. The company says it imports its natural raw materials directly from the best countries of origin, from farmers, processors and supply-chain partners in 45 countries (its 2025 brochure gives 31 countries), then cleans, sorts and grades them, and processes about 23,000 tonnes a year through dry and oil roasting, spice grinding, recipe blending, seasoning, pitting, stuffing, coating and packaging. Its brochures state the origin of each item, including almonds from the United States and Spain, dried apricots and figs from Turkey, cashews and turmeric from India, lentils from Canada, chickpeas from Mexico, quinoa from Peru, cinnamon from Vietnam and cloves from Madagascar, while its dates are selected from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Jordan and Tunisia. The company sells through three channels: packed consumer goods (spices, pulses, nuts, dried fruits, dates and snacks) in hypermarkets, supermarkets, grocery stores and online platforms; souk-style Shop in Shop counters, the first opened at Deira City Centre in 1995 and more than 350 by 2020; and food service, with a range of grades, origins and packaging, including a partnership with Emirates Catering since 2004. Its Arabic site says it distributes through 31 vehicles in the UAE and Saudi Arabia and a distribution network in the rest of the GCC, the Middle East and North Africa to more than 5,000 customers a year, and its brochure cites more than 7,000 points of sale and 500 partners. The company displays HACCP, ISO 22000:2005, ISO 9001:2015 and UAE organic (ESMA-55-16) certifications and offers a certified organic range of nuts, dried fruits and pulses. Since February 2020 its main factory has run on a 1.4 MWp rooftop solar system of 3,726 panels covering 73% of its annual energy needs, and its vision is to be the most trusted brand for everyday cooking essentials and healthy indulgence.
