Abida
Tunisian canned foods from rural Dahmani: tomato paste, harissa, sauces and jams since 1961
About & Export Capabilities
Abida (Société Industrielle des Conserves Alimentaires) is a Tunisian canned-food manufacturer located on the Kef road in Dahmani, in the Kef governorate of north-west Tunisia. The Abida name dates back to 1961 and comes from the Abida area of Dahmani, a fertile farming region known for growing vegetables such as tomatoes and peppers. The product range is built around tomato and pepper preserves: double concentrated tomato paste (140 g, 400 g, 800 g and 4.6 kg cans), Tunisian harissa (135 g, 380 g, 760 g and 2 kg), hrous (fermented chili paste; 140 g, 400 g and 4.6 kg) and salade mechouia (grilled pepper salad; 135 g, 380 g and 1.8 kg). Abida also produces ready-to-use sauces, including pizza sauce (400 g, 3 kg and 4.3 kg) and tomato sauce with basil (400 g). It also makes fruit jams (quince, fig and apricot) in easy-open packaging. The company has invested more than 10 million dinars to renew its production equipment. The plant now has a tomato processing line, a harissa line and a table-olive canning line. Packaging goes from small retail cans to large 5/2 catering formats.
