Abido Spices

Mohamad Abido Shehade founded Abido Trading and Industry Co. in Beirut in 1950, and it became a joint-stock company in 2021. The company specializes in spices and seasonings: it imports spices, inspects them thoroughly before storage, then grinds, blends and packs them in a range of weights. Its head office is in Mazraa, Beirut, its factory is in the Naameh industrial area, and it runs a retail store in Beirut. The range includes whole and ground spices such as allspice, anise, black pepper, nutmeg, cinnamon, nigella seeds and caraway. It also includes specialty blends: Abido Special Mix, anba spices, beef and chicken shawarma, biryani, barbecue, sojok, basterma, steak, ouzi, five-spice, Chinese and Cajun. Dried herbs include saffron, rosemary, basil, bay leaves, marjoram, oregano, sage and tisane blends. Ready mixes cover sahlab, mohalabia, custard, cornflour, falafel, freekeh, kashtalieh, moghli, crispy coatings for chicken, fish and escalope, and thyme with nuts. Packaging runs from 50 g aluminum sachets, 100 g bags and 50 g or 500 g shaker jars to 500 g catering packs and 5 kg or 10 kg pails. The company sells in Lebanon, the Gulf, Europe, Canada, the United States and Africa, and holds ISO 22000:2018, Halal, Boecker and FDA certification.
