Etihad Food Industries Co. Ltd. is an integrated Iraqi agro-industrial company located in Babylon province, operating a sugar refinery, a vegetable oil refinery and a flour mill. The company states that specialised firms from Germany, Japan, Belgium, Spain, the Czech Republic and Turkey contributed to the design and construction of its plants. Its site describes the vegetable oil refinery as one of the largest in the Middle East, designed with expertise from Desmet (Belgium) and Krones (Germany), with a capacity of 3,200 MT/day on two lines, covering degumming, neutralisation, bleaching, winterisation and deodorisation, plus 170,000 tons of crude oil tank storage. It produces sunflower oil, vegetable ghee and olein oil under the Aldar brand, as well as the Lazord, Fayroz and Al Sawsan brands, and says it serves local and regional markets.
