Al Sanna says it was founded in Syria in 1995, initially specialising in olives, olive oil, pickles, chili pastes, makdous and tahini, and opened its first branch in the United Arab Emirates in 1998; the company operates as Al Sanna Foodstuff Tr. LLC from Industrial Area 3 in Sharjah and set up a second branch in Berlin, Germany, in 2019. Its website also lists a Syrian address in Kafria, Idlib governorate. Its Syrian-origin products include extra virgin olive oil in glass bottles from 250 ml to 3 L and 3, 10 and 16 L aluminium tins; green and black olives (Kalamata, Idlibi and Tufahi) and olives stuffed with carrot, lemon or red pepper; pickles (mixed, cucumber, turnip and pepper); makdous stuffed with walnuts and peppers and preserved in olive oil; and Al-Sanaa and Al-Aliaa tahini. Under its two brands it also markets cheeses (kashkaval, mozzarella, akkawi, feta), labneh, spices, legumes, freekeh, molokhia, nuts, canned foods, Indian rice, pasta, sauces, vinegar, pomegranate molasses and vegetable oils. The company says it expanded from the UAE into the Gulf, the Middle East and Asia, supplies a full range to restaurants, bakeries and supermarkets, and entered the European and American markets through its Berlin branch. Its website shows an ASM HACCP certificate covering local purchase, imports, warehousing, distribution and export of food products, and a 2024 US FDA food facility registration certificate.
