Alarjawi is a Damascus brand whose story began in 1914 in the Al-Buzuriyah souq, founded by Hamdi Hamza Alarjawi; the family has kept its traditional recipes for more than a century. According to the company, the third generation modernised production in the 1990s and introduced new blends, including its signature red za'atar with natural pomegranate molasses. It runs a shop in the Midhat Pasha souq in Al-Buzuriyah, a distribution company in Aqraba and a factory on the Airport Road (Hteitet al-Turkman). Its range covers za'atar blends (green, royal, red, red with chili, royal mix with pepper, and with onion and tomato), spices (seven spices, fine black pepper, curry, caraway, shish spices), ready seasoning mixes (shawarma, shish tawook, kabsa, mandi, biryani, tandoori, broasted, crispy chicken, escalope, grills, fish and fish fillet), plus natural pomegranate molasses and tamarind, extra virgin olive oil, dried molokhia, kishk and freekeh. The company says it selects the finest natural ingredients and applies strict quality and food-safety controls from raw material to finished product while keeping its secret recipes, and that Alarjawi za'atar is a trusted brand in local and regional markets. Its Gulfood 2026 exhibitor profile states that it delivers its products from Damascus to markets around the world.
