AGK Group presents itself as a family-run business founded in 1992 and headquartered in Moroni, the capital of the Comoros. It says it is one of the first private companies in the country and has a strong presence on all three Comoros islands for both its import and export activities. Its site states that more than 500 employees work for the group, and its logo pairs "Vanilla – Cloves – Ylang" with "Food – Beverages – Miscellaneous". The company says its import department covers all regions of the Comoros on all three islands (Grande Comore, Anjouan and Mohéli) and that it is the exclusive importer and distributor of a wide portfolio of international brands in food, soft drinks and personal care, importing from around 20 countries and representing over 100 exclusive brands; it describes itself as a leader in the FMCG sector. It states that more than 15 trucks and vans deliver its products every day, that it clears around 50 containers through customs each month using its own container truck to speed up rotations given its volumes, and that it adds new products every year with ranges adapted to local needs. The food and beverages section of its site shows chocolates, chips, candy and lollipops, milk, juices, tomato concentrate, biscuits and preserved vegetables, illustrated with products including Candia LeLait milk made by Habibo Dairy in Madagascar, Tiffany Chunko's cookies and Bugles snacks, Mythic Club chocolate, LeFruit juice and Sultan tomato paste. Its partner list includes food brands such as Candia, Nestlé, Panzani, IFFCO, Ferrero, Coca-Cola, Café Pelé, Oriental, Saïda and Habibo. The group also imports cleaning and personal-care products, household appliances, electronics and motorcycles through AGK Motors. Alongside distribution, the group exports Bourbon vanilla, cloves and ylang-ylang essential oil from the Comoros, with offices and processing facilities in Anjouan and Mohéli. It says its family has collected and cured vanilla for four generations since 1943, and that 80% of its clove exports leave from Mutsamudu port, where it has three warehouses. In 2010 it expanded to Madagascar with Spices & Oil (clove leaf oil, built in partnership with Givaudan) and Malagasy Spices (vanilla and cloves). It states that it is FSSC 22000 certified, exports to the USA, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, and runs social programmes including scholarships, medical care and reforestation on Mohéli.
