Coubèche Distribution is the distribution arm of Groupe Coubèche, which its website says was founded in 1885 and is one of the historic economic players of the Republic of Djibouti, active in the beverage industry and in food distribution. The group says it has around 800 employees, is the largest private-sector employer in Djibouti, and is organised into three companies: Coubèche Industries, Coubèche Distribution and Coubèche International Distribution. Its head office is on Avenue Georges Pompidou in Djibouti City. The website describes Coubèche Distribution as the link between international import flows, the group's logistics platforms and local points of sale: it organises, stores, prepares and distributes a wide range of fresh, dry and frozen food, beverages and everyday consumer goods. Its platform has 6,000 pallet locations, 6,300 m² of dry storage and 2,300 m³ of refrigerated storage, and it relies on an intermodal sea, air and road system and a fleet of more than 80 vehicles that supplies shops, points of sale, depots, professional partners and specialised networks across the country, with a controlled cold chain. The group says the distribution platform supplies its store chains with frozen goods and major international brands, including Casino Haramous supermarket (since 2011, in partnership with Groupe Casino), Cash Center Leader Price (since 2000, selling retail, wholesale and semi-wholesale) and L'Hyper Djibouti in Bawadi Mall (opened in 2017, 6,471 m² and about 20,000 references). The site says Coubèche Industries, the approved Coca-Cola bottler for Djibouti since 1964, produces and distributes Coca-Cola brands throughout the country, showing Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Zero, Sprite and Fanta Orange, as well as Crystal water remineralised by reverse osmosis in 0.5 L and 1.5 L bottles and 11.3 L and 18.9 L jugs, mineral-enriched Crystal Plus still and sparkling, Crystal Legacy, and food-grade ice. The site states that the group is FSSC 22000 certified and that Coubèche International Distribution partners with international brands and chains such as Beauty Success, La Grande Récré and Groupe Casino. The group also runs the Terre & Verre bottle and can recycling programme and other environmental and social initiatives.
