Safre Group presents itself as a privately owned Libyan group of companies founded in 1994 in Tripoli by a partnership of four executive directors. It describes itself as a first-generation business that primarily specialises in the importation, distribution and marketing of fast-moving consumer goods. Its head office is on Al Tahaddi Street, Airport Road, Tripoli; the company says it has grown into a powerhouse in the sector and calls itself a leading food distributor in Libya. The group says it brings fine food products from around the world to the Libyan market, from everyday staples to premium consumer brands, serving families and businesses across Libya. Its website states that it has more than 169 personnel and more than 79 trucks, vans and cash vans, and that its food division comprises eight companies: Safare, Shamal Al Mutawassat, Al Awafi, Marhaba Food Imports, Al Azima, Food House (Bet Ataam), Al Haditha and Sanabel Al Andalus. The company's catalogue shows Frico cheeses (Gouda, Edam, Maasdam, smoked cheese and Emmental, light and red-hot slices), Lutosa frozen french fries and its Golden River line, Goldalex frozen vegetables (peas and carrots, okra, cut green beans, mixed vegetables), Munchy's biscuits from Malaysia including Lexus sandwich biscuits and crackers, Friesland Rainbow evaporated milk, Siblou tuna from Thailand plus Adriana and Young Captain tuna, and Grain d'Or breakfast flakes. It also lists the Azahrat range: tomato paste, yogurt, butter of Spanish origin, cheese slices, triangle and square cheese, Edam, evaporated and sweetened condensed milk, UHT milk and flavoured milk. The group says it runs a food manufacturing division with two separate factories, one for juice and one for processed cheese, on 16 hectares in Sbeha, 40 km from Tripoli. With a capacity of 30 million litres, it produces around 15 million litres of juice for its two private labels, Safari and LiBi, and part of the Rauch brand is also produced there under a joint venture. It names triangle-cheese manufacturing and juice exports to North African countries as future projects, and says it took part in the 6th Libya Food Expo in January 2025.
