Makkieh International Group S.A.L. (MIG) is a Lebanese company based in the Kaskas area of Beirut and part of Makkieh (Holding) SAL. Its website recounts that Mr. Adnan Makkieh started a small business in Baalbek in 1956; his son Mohamad joined in 1989 and developed the business until, by 1994, the Makkieh name was well established in the Beqaa governorate. They then decided to move the business to the capital, Beirut, completing the move in late 1997 after settling all legal and logistics issues, with Mohamad's brother Mostafa joining them from that time. The company says it grew gradually to become a strong player in Beirut within a few years and then one of the leading companies across Lebanon, and that it is today one of the leading players in the Lebanese FMCG market with a diversified product portfolio. Its website shows the FMCG distribution covering canned food, bakery, baking ingredients, snack food and confectionery, dairy, condiments, seasoning and flavouring, grains and pulses, oils and ghee, sweet spreads, frozen food, beverages, deli food and sweet desserts, alongside non-food departments. The FMCG Distribution section of its website displays the logos of many brands, including in food and beverages: Nestlé, Ferrero, Kraft, Heinz, Mondelez, Mars, Perfetti, Kellogg's, Ülker, Loacker, Barilla, Indomie, California Garden, Afia, Mazola, Lesieur, Wesson, Arla, Bel, Ahmad Tea, Lipton, Red Bull, Americana, Al Wadi Al Akhdar, Chtaura, Kassatly, Maatouk, Najjar, Gandour, Castania, Abido, Domo, Al Yaman and Laziza.
