Al Ezz Trading and Distribution Co presents itself as a Syrian FMCG food trading and distribution company headquartered in Damascus. Its website states that it was established in Syria in 2007 and has grown from an FMCG distributor into an importer and distributor of high-quality food products and general merchandise, specialising in food, beverages, oils, fats and sugar for the retail and wholesale markets. It describes its vision as delivering the right products to the right customers on time through a reliable distribution network. The company says it has 4,000 m² of warehouse facilities, a team of 36 people and a truck fleet, and that it covers around 37,000 convenience stores. It serves wholesale, retail, HORECA and traditional channels and publishes coverage rates of 71% for wholesalers, 100% for hyper- and supermarkets, 68% for HORECA and 92% for convenience stores. Its stated coverage area is Damascus, Daraa, Sweida, Aleppo, Idlib, Hama, Homs, Latakia, Tartus, Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, Hasakah and Qamishli, and it handles market analysis, sourcing, financing, forecasting, purchasing, warehousing, transport and fleet routing in-house. Its portfolio covers food, beverages, oils, fats, sugar and commodities. The site says it works with brands and trading houses including Unilever, Mazola, Durrah Sugar, Aseel, Mumtaz, Unikai, Junet, Ali Cafe, Cargill, Sucden, ED&F Man and Louis D. It shows Saudi-made Mazola oils, ghee, mayonnaise and ranch products, sugar from the Durrah refinery in Yanbu, and Junet and Unikai juices distributed through retail and wholesale channels. The company says that since 2012 it has shifted its focus to staple commodities because of the import ban on most finished products, and now imports about 30,000 tonnes of sugar a year through trading houses such as Cargill and Sucden, from origins including Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, India, the UAE and Brazil, plus about 7,000 tonnes of medium- and long-grain rice a year. The company states that it has launched a packing business under its own private label with a capacity of 7,000 tonnes a year for products such as sugar, rice, bulgur and lentils. Its stated mission is to be a leading FMCG importer and distributor while ensuring quality, value, customer satisfaction and sustainable growth, and it says it aims to strengthen its position among Syria's top distribution companies by importing leading brands and building long-term partnerships with regional and international suppliers.
