Al Zahra Libyan Food Industries was founded in early 2015 and began equipping its vegetable-oil plant in Misrata in early 2016. The company states that it supplied a complete plant to current international standards and relies on qualified Libyan staff. It states that its line is designed to fill 8,000 one-litre bottles per hour, running three shifts with fully automatic filling, and that crude oil is held in tanks with up to 5,000 tonnes of storage. It sells sunflower oil under the Zahra and Carthage brands, corn oil under Carthage, and Zahra flour. The company focuses on the Libyan market and says it plans to move into exports once local demand is met. It lists locations in Misrata (Al-Hamiya road) and Tripoli (Al-Krimiya).
