Zalatimo Sweets states that its story began in 1860, when Mohammad Zalatimo opened a small Mutabak pastry shop in the Old City of Jerusalem; Abdallah Zalatimo opened the company's first shop in Amman in 1986, from which it grew into a chain of stores in Amman (Shmeisani, Wasfi Al-Tal Street, Tabarbour, Jubaiha, Crowne Plaza complex, Abdali Boulevard, Mecca Street) plus a duty-free outlet at Queen Alia International Airport. The company produces over 100 Arabian sweets and assortments: baklava with pistachios, walnuts and cashews (baklava, pistachio rolls, burma, osh al-bulbul, kul weshkor, nabulsieh, balloriyeh, basma) in assortments such as Amman, Diamond, Noble and Assala and individually wrapped boxes; maamoul filled with dates, pistachios, walnuts or hazelnuts; date ka'ek with anise; sesame barazek, anise sticks, Zainab rolls and a Royal Tea cookie assortment; plus a sugar-free / no-added-sugar line of baklava and maamoul. The company says it worked with European and Japanese equipment makers to adapt modern machinery for classics such as maamoul, operates under documented standard operating procedures, can produce up to 2,500 kg of sweets a day and exports over 250 tonnes a year. It lists distributors in the UAE (Sharjah Airport Duty Free), Egypt (Cairo International Airport), the USA, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, and sells through an Amazon store. It is listed in the Jordanian Exporters Directory 2025–2026 of the Amman Chamber of Industry.
