Tala Food Industries

Tala is the brand of Omar & Mouhja Karkour Food Processing Co., which was established under Investment Law No. 10 of 1991 and started production in May 1994 with a capital of 77.5 million Syrian pounds. Its complex lies in Ashrafiyat Sahnaya at the Al-Bardeh junction, 6 km south of Damascus, on a 10,000 m² site with production halls, cold stores, warehouses and administration. The company produces tomato paste in 22–24%, 24–26% and 28–30% concentrations and ketchup; canned vegetables (green peas, peas and carrots, green beans, artichoke hearts, grape leaves, mixed vegetables) and ready dishes such as okra in tomato sauce and yalanji stuffed vine leaves; fruit compotes (apricot, cherry, peach, pear, fruit salad); jams (apricot, strawberry, cherry, fig, rose, bitter orange); mushrooms and truffles; hummus with tahini, eggplant mutabbal, foul medames, broad beans and chickpeas; pickles; plus green and black olives, pomegranate molasses, sweet corn, hot pepper paste, halawa and qamar al-din apricot paste, in cans and glass jars from 70 g to 5 kg. The company states that its lines are fully automated from washing and grading to cooking and canning, that quality control runs 24 hours a day with an incubation period and testing in its own laboratory, and that its jams contain more than 50% fruit with no added flavourings, colourings or preservatives. Its Gulfood 2026 exhibitor profile describes it as a closed joint-stock company with over thirty years of experience that also makes apple cider vinegar, rose water and natural concentrated juices, and manufactures and packs customer orders in various sizes.
